Nature of the Review
Rep. Gonzales may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an employee of the House of Representatives who was working under his supervision. If Rep. Gonzales engaged in a sexual relationship with an employee of the House who was working under his supervision, he may have violated House rules and standards of conduct.
OCC Recommendation
The Board recommends that the Committee further review the above allegation concerning Rep. Gonzales because there is substantial reason to believe that Rep. Gonzales engaged in a sexual relationship with an employee of the House of Representatives who was working under his supervision.
Committee Action
On March 4, 2026, the Committee on Ethics released a statement stating that it had established an Investigative Subcommittee with jurisdiction to determine if Representative Gonzales violated the Code of Official Conduct or any law, rule, regulation, or other applicable standard of conduct by (1) engaging in sexual misconduct towards an individual employed in his congressional office, and/or (2) discriminating unfairly by dispensing special favors or privileges.
On March 12, 2026, the Committee on Ethics released a statement announcing that it had received an OCC regarding Representative Gonzales and that the allegations in the OCC referral were within the scope of the Investigative Subcommittee established on March 4, 2026.
