OCE Referral Regarding Rep. Troy Nehls
On December 11th, 2023, the Office of Congressional Ethics transmitted a referral to the Committee on Ethics of the United States House of Representatives regarding Rep. Troy Nehls.
Nature of the Review
Lorraine Miller was appointed to the Governing Board of the Office of Congressional Conduct on February 2, 2023. In 2007, as Speaker of the House, Pelosi nominated, and the House confirmed Ms. Miller as the 35th Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. Ms. Miller became the first African American to become an officer of the U.S. House since its inception in 1789. From 2004-2010, she served as president of the Washington, D.C. Branch of the NAACP. The Office of Congressional Ethics, established by the House of Representatives, is an independent, non-partisan entity charged with receiving and reviewing allegations of misconduct concerning House members and staff and, when appropriate, referring matters to the Committee on Ethics. Consistent with the desire of the House for more transparency in these matters, the OCE released today a report for the third quarter of 2023.
